If you’re a self-advocate, family member, or someone who cares about keeping a full range of employment options for people with disabilities, it’s important to voice your choice. The federal government, specifically the Office of Disability Employment has asked for public feedback on jobs and offered several ways to make it easy to provide input.
Adelante would like to thank NM Business First, Western Sky Community Care and Meow Wolf for the grant we received at February’s Grow New Mexico – Philanthropy event. The proposal Adelante submitted was for our for DiverseIT program which provides IT training and job opportunities for people with disabilities and other populations that are too often left out of technology careers.
Adelante GiveABQ is Now Open! One of the biggest challenges facing nonprofits is how to handle in-kind donations – gifts of tangible items like office furniture or home furnishings. Even though they are useful, many nonprofits can’t accept those donations because of transportation and storage costs, as well as the logistical issues involved. Donors can get frustrated because they make calls and can’t find an organization that wants or needs their items. Desks, dressers, and more end up in a landfill unnecessarily. These challenges are now being addressed by GiveABQ, the newest community resource of Adelante that just opened in Albuquerque.
