Remodeling, downsizing or combining households? Not sure where to donate your furniture that is still in good condition? GiveABQ provides a single location where donations can be collected from the public and where nonprofits can select and get items they need for their organization or their clients in need. GiveABQ warehouse operates as the donations center for over 100 local charities. It’s the perfect place to donate in New Mexico.

In partnership with the City of Albuquerque’s Department of Family and Community Services and the nonprofit organizations supporting the homeless that participate in GiveABQ, the program is trying to collect furniture for as many families as possible before the end of 2020. The program collects donations year-round, but is working with the City on the issue of homelessness as we enter the holidays.

To make this project a reality, GiveABQ needs furniture donations. Furniture is an important aspect of stable housing. This is especially true for families who have been experiencing homelessness. It’s not enough to find an apartment or empty house. When there are furnishings such as a sofa, a kitchen table, chairs, and dressers, people begin to feel like it’s a home.

GiveABQ Can Pickup Your Furniture Donations!

People who wish to donate can arrange a pickup via the website by clicking on donate. Furniture can also be delivered to the GiveABQ warehouse at 1520 1st St NW in downtown Albuquerque. Operating hours are Tuesday-Friday 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM, but donors should call before visiting. GiveABQ has a limited crew and they are often out picking up donations or delivering furniture to a family in need. Donors can call 505.341.GIVE (4483).

Adelante formed GiveABQ to Help the Community

In 2019, Adelante Development Center launched GiveABQ to impact other New Mexico nonprofits and strengthen the entire community. GiveABQ operates under the principles of Give, Re-Use, and Impact. GiveABQ makes giving easy. Sometimes people have furniture, household items, or durable medical equipment to donate. They want to make sure their gifts go where they are needed. That’s where the collaborative approach of GiveABQ shines. Donors can give to one place and benefit multiple nonprofits and the people they support.

When a family or a business gets new furnishings, GiveABQ picks up the items that are in good, usable shape. Finding an organization that will re-use items is better for the environment and better for people in need, too. Then clients of participating nonprofits can come see them in the warehouse. Or nonprofits that need items can come see what donations are available, too. One location and lots of people helped. Won’t you pitch in?
