Edna Mae holding up a completed donation box

In June, Kiwanis Aktion Club created donation boxes to collect goods for cats and dogs for Animal Humane New Mexico, a local nonprofit that supports and improves the lives of New Mexico’s cats and dogs through sheltering, adoptions, humane education, and veterinary services. For their summer service project, Aktion Club members voted to support animals in their local community. Partnering with Animal Humane New Mexico was a natural fit. The donation boxes will collect primarily food and toys for cats and dogs, and the goods will all be donated to Animal Humane New Mexico.

The Aktion Club is a service club providing community-service opportunities and leadership training for people with disabilities. The club is hosted by Adelante in cooperation with Kiwanis Club of Albuquerque, and is open to all people with disabilities in our community. You do not have to participate in Adelante programs to get involved.

If you or someone you know is interested in joining, contact the club’s advisor, Marsha Murray, at MCMurray@goadelante.org or (505) 341-2000.
