Adelante directly employs over 400 people with disabilities, and helps more than 100 more find jobs in the community each year. This is possible because of businesses and government agencies that partner with us or use Adelante Enterprises for their mailing, packaging, shredding, and janitorial work.

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month, and this October also marks the 14th year Adelante Document Destruction Services has handled the secure shredding for Gap Inc.’s Corporate Shared Services Center in Albuquerque.

“We believe we have a real opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives through our business,” writes Art Peck, CEO of Gap Inc., in a letter on the company’s website. “The beauty of a piece of clothing can extend outward to touch people and the world in ways that are far from obvious.”

One of those far-from-obvious touches can be found right here in Albuquerque. Gap Inc.’s shredding contract has helped Adelante provide jobs, independence, self-advocacy, and dignity to people with disabilities for 14 years.

Gap Inc. states that every product is part of a bigger story, and that story includes success for Adelante and the people we serve and assist.

Thank you, Gap Inc., for 14 wonderful years of supporting jobs for New Mexicans with disabilities.
