Volunteer in Bernalillo and Valencia Counties working with adults with disabilities.

Adelante looks for volunteers that are 18 years of age or older who want to work with adults with disabilities. No previous experience is required, but we appreciate people who are cheerful and kindhearted, who can accept direction from staff, and who are physically able to be outdoors in all seasons helping to propel people in wheelchairs in various settings for day trips. Fun and fulfillment are included!

Volunteer in the Benefits Connection Center.

As a volunteer at Adelante’s Benefits Connection Center, you can help seniors and people with disabilities find out what benefits they are eligible to receive.

Assist in the Benefits Connection Center. To volunteer, you must be able to answer calls pleasantly, following a script, and perform administrative tasks like keyboarding, printing, and faxing. Training will be provided. You must be able to speak clearly and hear well on the phone.

Perform outreach. Several people are also needed to help with community outreach on behalf of the Benefits Connection Center. This important volunteer role helps educate seniors and people with disabilities about this free service and how the Benefits Connection Center can help them apply for governmental benefits.

Volunteer to teach art to adults with disabilities.

Adelante has a wonderful day program called Arts & Animals where people with disabilities learn a variety of art techniques, including painting, pottery, performance art, dance, and more. Adelante looks for volunteers that are 18 years of age and older who have experience with some kind of art and would like to work with adults with disabilities.

Volunteer at Los Lunas Bargain Square.

Adelante operates Bargain Square thrift store as a social enterprise. The store provides training and employment opportunities for people with disabilities. This award-winning thrift store is looking for volunteers that are 18 years of age and older who want to work with adults with disabilities and help with sorting donated items, cleaning items, and organizing store shelves.

Volunteer to play music or read to program participants.

Adelante locations in Albuquerque, Belen and Los Lunas appreciate volunteers that are 18 years of age and older and are interested in sharing their love of reading or music with our clients. If you’d like to play music for our program participants, either seniors or people with disabilities, let us know!
